Collection description:
The Legal Network's Resource Centre is the largest and most comprehensive
publicly accessible documentation centre in Canada in the area of legal,
ethical, and policy issues raised by HIV/AIDS, and probably one of the
largest worldwide. It houses academic literature, books, court decisions,
community reports, conference proceedings, government documents, newsletters,
position papers, and unpublished research. Our aim is to bridge gaps in
existing collections elsewhere, making available the extensive research
materials we compile in the course of producing our reports, discussion
papers and other publications that are not always readily available at
other institutions such as university or government libraries.
Scope of collection:
The collection includes documentation on a wide range of issues such as HIV
testing and confidentiality, Sex work and HIV, human rights and discrimination,
prisons and HIV/AIDS, and debates on the criminalization of HIV transmission
- from Canada and countries around the world.
Other Services:
The Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network is based in Toronto (Ontario), Canada.
It is the only national, community-based, charitable organisation in Canada
working exclusively in the area of policy and legal issues raised by HIV/AIDS.
It was formed in November 1992 and has over 250 members across Canada and
internationally.
